Biography
Dr. Burton has over 29 years experience in public and private healthcare administration. He served 22 years in the U.S. Army as a Medical Service Corps Officer retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served in assignments throughout the United States, Korea and Germany. Prior to coming to Weber State University Dr. Burton was a Professor of Management at Colorado Technical University. He has extensive experience in ambulatory clinic operations, management in acute care facilities, patient scheduling systems and managed care development. His education includes a Master of Science in Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, a Master of Healthcare Administration from Baylor University and a Doctor of Management from Colorado Technical University. His dissertation research addressed implementation of medical call centers in demand management programs. He is a charter member and past President of the Pikes Peak Healthcare Executives Forum. He is a member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration and serves as co-chair of the Faculty Forum for Strategic Thinking.
