Biography

Following a nationwide search, the Board of Directors of Central Peninsula General Hospital (CPGH), Inc., selected David D. Gilbreath for the position of Chief Executive Officer at Central Peninsula General Hospital, Soldotna, AK. Gilbreath assumed the job on Dec. 3, 2002. Gilbreath has more than 25 years experience in healthcare and hospital management. For the past two years he has served as the Chief Executive Officer for the US Air Force Medical Center Elmendorf in Anchorage. His other healthcare experience includes service as the CEO for the 18th Medical Group in Kadena Air Base, Japan; Chief Operating Officer for the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Senior Health Analyst for the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. Gilbreath also taught business and healthcare administration at the undergraduate and graduate level. Gilbreath holds a Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration from Baylor University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Puget Sound. He is active is scouting, youth sports, PTA, and United Way. Gilbreath retired from the United States Air Force in July 2002 and moved to the state of Washington.

Colonel David D. Gilbreath was previously the Commander, 3rd Medical Group, 3rd Wing, Elmendorf AFB, AK. Colonel Gilbreath was commissioned in the Medical Services Corps in April 1977. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and has worked all the functional areas of Air Force healthcare administration. He has held staff positions at Air Staff and OSD level.
