Biography

Colonel Patricia A. H. Saulsbery, a native of Guys Mills Pennsylvania, received her Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master of Health Administration Degree from Baylor University; and a Master of Science Degree in Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defense University. Her military education includes graduation from Command and Staff College and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.

Colonel Saulsbery entered the Army in 1977 and has held such diverse clinical positions as staff nurse and head nurse in the medical surgical inpatient and ambulatory settings at Fort Bragg, Baumholder, Germany and Fort Benning. In addition, she has been a 91C (Practical Nurse) Instructor and a Nurse Methods Analyst. Other assignments include: a fellowship in the Office of the Chief, Army Nurse Corps, Office of the Surgeon General; Strength Manager and Assistant Branch Chief for the Army Nurse Corps, US Total Army Personnel Command; and military assistant in the Office of Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs. Colonel Saulsbery was selected as an Army Fellow for the 1994-95 Congressional Fellowship sponsored by the American Political Science Association. She was assigned as the Deputy Commander for Nursing at Winn Army Community Hospital in 1997. On June 24, 1999, she took command of the US Army MEDDAC, Heidelberg, Germany. In September 2001, she now holds the position as Deputy Commander for Nursing, Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Chief Nurse, North Atlantic Regional Medical Command.

Colonel Saulsbery’s military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with Three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Expert field Medical Badge. She is a member of the Order of Military medical Merit, Sigma Theta Tau, and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
