Narrative

BG Keith W. Gallagher was born at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Augusta College, Augusta, Georgia in 1978 and commissioned a Second Lieutenant, Medical Service Corps. Initially assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, BG Gallagher served as Medical Platoon Leader, 4th Battalion, 68th Armor (Airborne); 82nd Airborne Division Medical Supply Officer; Battalion S4, 307th Medical Battalion (Airborne); Commander, B Company, 307th Medical Battalion (Airborne) where he provide Level I/II Combat Health Support to the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division; Executive Officer, 122nd Medical Detachment (DS), Dharan, Saudi Arabia during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm; and Battalion Executive Officer, 261st Area Support Medical Battalion (Airborne), 44th Medical Brigade. He also commanded the Academy Battalion, Center Brigade, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

BG Gallagher served in multitude healthcare administration assignments beginning with the Administrator, Department of Medicine, Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia; Executive Officer, Landstuhl Dental Activity, Landstuhl, Germany; Staff Administrator, Ambulatory Care Division, Health Services Command, Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Chief, Managed Care Division, Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Deputy Commander for Administration, 67th Combat Support Hospital, Wuerzburg, Germany; and most recently Chief of Staff, Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

He is Board Certified in Healthcare Administration and a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He holds a Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration from Baylor University and completed a healthcare administrative residency at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. BG Gallagher attended the Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

BG Gallagher’s military awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with six oak leaf clusters; Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters; Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters; Southwest Asia Medal with three bronze stars; Humanitarian Service Medal; and the Kuwait Liberation Medal. He also earned the Order of Military Medical Merit, the Master Parachutist Badge, Canadian Jump Wings, German Sportsman Badge and the coveted Expert Field Medical Badge. His community awards include the J.C. Penney’s Golden Rule nomination for outstanding volunteerism and the Outstanding Young American Award. He is active in the Boy Scouts of America and earned the Order of the Arrow.
