Biography

Colonel Chowen hails from Onaway, Michigan. He graduated from Central Michigan University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and Biology. He enlisted in the Army in 1982 and in 1983 was commissioned a Distinguished Military Graduate from the Officer Candidate School, Fort Benning, Georgia. In 1992, he earned a Master of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Troy State University and in 1996, he completed a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from Baylor University. Lieutenant Colonel Chowen is a graduate of Enlisted Basic Training, AMEDD Orientation Course, Initial Entry Rotary Wing Course, Essential Medical Training for AMMED Aviators Course, Aviation Officer Advanced Course, the Combined Arms Services and Staff School, and the Command and General Staff College.
