November/December, 2000. In July, Major General (Dr.) E. Wynn Mabry II, M.D. retired as the Commander of the 59th Medical Wing, Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Wynn entered the Air Force in July, 1973. After his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma, he completed his internship and residency in urology at Duke University. Attending the ceremony were his wife Mary Ann, daughters Elizabeth and Juliana, son Clark, and father Dr. E.H. Mabry. Wynn paraphrased Frost's poem "The road not taken" in describing his military career path. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal recognizing his exemplary leadership. As Wynn retires, son Clark (a recent Air Force Academy graduate) will continue the Mabry Air Force service tradition. Mary Ann and Wynn are off to the Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where he will be the medical director. Wynn has some familiarity with the area having served in the Gulf region during Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Off with one hell of a roar! Congratulations on your contributions to military medicine and best wishes to you and the family in your new endeavors.
