His research interests include breast cancer and cancer in Persian Gulf War veterans. Dick received an award from the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition for his work on factors associated with breast cancer. Richard Chu of Dover, MA, with S.G. Cowen Securities Corp in Boston, is a Managing Director and Senior Research Analyst covering the computer hardware and software industries. He has covered Japanese technology companies, as well as electronics design software, instrumentation, and semiconductor capital equipment. Richard has been recognized by Institutional Investor's "All-America Research Team" poll numerous times since 1979. He was ranked No. 2 in the 1999 Wall Street Journal "All Star Survey" in the category of computer hardware and PCs. He has been an analyst with SG Cowen since 1972. Richard received his A.B. in Physics, magna cum laude; M.A., Physics, from State University of New York at Stony Brook; and an M.B.A., from Columbia University Graduate School of Business. Fredric Price of San Rafael, CA was profiled by the San Francisco Business Times. Since October 2000, Fred is the chairman and CEO of BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc., a Novato-based biotechnology company that develops enzymes for life-threatening diseases. From September 1994 to September 2000 he was President, Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors of Applied Microbiology/AMBI, a biotechnology and nutrition company. Fred earned at M.B.A. with finance concentration from Wharton school (1969). His essential business philosophy "Surround yourself with extraordinarily intelligent people, driven to produce the best possible scientific results." The word that best describes him: "relentless." John Talbott came through South Texas; he remarked good country that gave a feel for what the old prairie country must have been like. John has a brainy hard-working nephew in San Antonio building a software/digital business - Sahara Digital. Anyone needing help with software should contact John for referral to his nephew. Rich Weller of Nutley, NJ is a lawyer with Greenbaum Rowe Smith where he does corporate/ transactional work. He wrote expressing his shock at noting the passing of so many of our classmates. Rich has had only one career - lawyer. He has been married 25 years to Joan, his rock and anchor. They have three children: Alena (graduated Wesleyan, CT), Daniel (scholar-athlete, sophomore at NYU), and youngest Rachel. He wasn't sure about attending reunion (not having attended other reunions or seeing people who would be strangers). Valid concerns but reunions offer opportunities to make new friends and to reflect.
