May/June, 2003. News from campus deals with the Dartmouth men’s and women’s varsity swimming and diving programs which were almost eliminated but will be continued through a funding agreement between students, alumni, parents and the Dartmouth administration. The agreement calls for the program to be fully reinstated based on a $2 million fund-raising effort. Congrats to the involved alumns! With saddness, have another loss to report, Albert Campbell Brunelli of Merrimack, NH who died in November. An engineering science major, Al was a software engineer at Cooksone Electronics in Manchester, NH. Al played rugby and enjoyed biking and hiking. A touching photo essay chronicles his life at http://home.attbi.com/~bostonedu/abrunelli/ Sincerest regrets to the Brunelli family. On a personal note, I was selected as a Fulbright scholar to study demographics in Berlin. Humbled by the recognition, it will be a great opportunity to pick up new skills and to walk in the footsteps of my ancestors who lived and worked in the Berlin area since the 1500s. Will keep you posted. Dave Mangelsdorff (3410 Turtle Village Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78230-3918) e-mail to dmangels@txdirect.net 210-344-0942
