November/December 2006. Ed Gray of Lyme, NH has a book deal about his father, L. Patrick Gray, III, who succeeded J. Edgar Hoover as FBI head in 1972 and was later forced to resign when he became ensnared in the Watergate cover-up. Based primarily on Gray's private first-person accounts written at the time, the book will show how the battle over the post-Hoover FBI succession and the perfidy of the Watergate conspirators destroyed the Nixon presidency, as well as Gray's career. Ed will complete his father's book, supplementing the text with documents, tape transcripts, and third-party accounts. A spring 2008 publication is anticipated. Richard W. Clapp, associate professor of environmental health at Boston University School of Public Health, is the inaugural recipient of the Science for the Benefit of Environmental Health award. The honor acknowledges Dick's contributions above and beyond the call of duty, in his research, testimony, and broader assistance to communities and workers across New England and throughout the nation. Bob Sanner of Palo Alto, CA notes that Fred Cowan in Louisville, KY has announced a run for Circuit Court Judge. Bob says "same old, same old," though dramatically he reports buying a new car. Sam Ostrow confirmed hearing that Cowan was competing in Kentucky politics again, and added to the "same old, same" he just leased a new car, the same make and model for the third time! More "same old, same old" than Sam even imagined he could sink to. Get out your calendars for June 11-14, 2007. Bruce Pacht is the point of contact for our class 40th reunion.
