October, 1998 The wheel keeps turning the cycles of life, including joys and sorrows. News about '67 classmates includes such a mixture. A sad note from Jim Van Amburg enclosed an obituary notice about the death of James R. Gibb. Jim was a long-time activist and former president of Front Runners New York. After graduation from Dartmouth, Jim served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines. At the time of his death, Jim was Senior Editor of HBO's Program Guide, a post he held for the last fifteen years. Regrets to the Gibb family. Since not all classmates visit the '67 Webpage, enclosed are a few clips from the class postings. Ed Kern asks to hear from anyone concerned about the environment and solar power as part of a potential solution. Visit the website for more details. Andrew Weiss had some news. After 20 years in private practice of law, he is leaving. Andy would like to talk with classmates about using legal skills in non-legal contexts, like with non-profit organizations. His years of teaching mindfulness meditation has yielded a book "Beginning Mindfulness" which he is self-publishing . Any suggestions for a publisher? Clem Page was intrigued by Andrew Weiss's news. After 20 years of small firm practice and three months of solo law practice, Clem is interested in doing the same thing and in relocating from southeastern Pennsylvania to the Pacific Northwest. John and Pokey Kornet announce the birth of their first grandchild, John Wing ("Jack") Kornet, to son John '90 and Becca Michaels Kornet. From the '67 class webpage, John notes still working for Brockhouse & Cooper helping large global pension plans find their money managers. He too longs for something different. He has written a book "The Art of Consulting" and is looking for help in the self-publishing arena. Sounds like some common themes for our classmates.
