March, 1999 Ralph Alan Cohen, a professor of English at James Madison University (JMU) in Harrisonburg, Virginia and executive director of the Shenandoah Shakespeare Express theater group, was presented an honorary doctor of humane letters at the Georgetown University May commencement. The award was in recognition of Ralph's teaching, leadership, and contributions to the theory and practice of teaching Shakespeare. He has been a faculty member at JMU since 1973. James Coakley was appointed Vice President for Finance and Administration for Neumann College. Previously, he was vice president for finance and operations at Daniel Webster College in Nashua, New Hampshire from 1986-1996. Jim earned his M.B.A. from Plymouth State College. He has been a team member for accreditation visits for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and is an active participant in the National Association of College and University Business Officers. Alan Gaynor has published a work with Broadway Books on the latest developments in cosmetic surgery: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Cosmetic Surgery but Couldn't Afford to Ask. Alan graduated from Yale Medical College, and later completed a residency at the California Medical Center. In 1980, he opened his own Cosmetic Surgery Center in San Francisco. Alan is regarded as a leading cosmetic surgeon on liposculpting and is credited with inventing the Gaynor Cannula. He frequently appears on national television shows such as 20/20, Donahue, Geraldo, 60 Minutes, and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Time, and Allure. Erik Edward Joh was elected to the Board of Trustees of Florida Institute of Technology, one of the larger private colleges in Florida. In addition, Union University's Albany Law School elected him to its Board of Trustees. When not involved in education, he leads an interesting life. Erik has traveled in one of the Harbour Branch Oceanographic Institute's submarines to explore some of the unexplored depths off Hondouras. Other activities include officiating football games, serving on the Board of Governors of the American Red Cross, working with Presidential appointees, being a member of the Intracoastal Hospital Foundation, and a managing trustee of the Gertrude E. Skelly Charitable Foundation. Philip K. Curtis took a position as Senior Developer with AIG Baker, a national shopping center developer based in Atlanta (where Phil has lived since 1974).
