PRODUCT LIABILITY LITIGATION, 1974 to 1990

  • One of two partners handling cases in California for major automobile manufacturers
  • Settled or won at trial all cases including cases with trials that lasted more than 12 weeks
  • Clients have also included manufacturers of aircraft, pipelines, transportation equipment, machine tools, and consumer products

ENVIRONMENTAL AND MASS TORT LITIGATION, 1979 to Date

  • Supervised all aspects of environmental and asbestos coverage litigation as one of a small group of regional counsel for a major insurer. Provided overall guidance and strategy for trial of coverage and related litigation between an insurer and a major asbestos producer. Litigation ended with a national class action approved in the United States District Court in Texas, as well as a California appellate court decision confirming our position on assignments
  • Tried and won one of the earliest cases alleging environmental contamination from chemicals, an 18-week trial
  • Represented the Port of San Francisco in early litigation with the Regional Water Quality Control Board over pollution of San Francisco Bay. Cases eventually settled without damages under stipulated cleanup agreements

COMPUTER LITIGATION SUPPORT, 1980 to Date

  • Pioneered development of computer litigation management systems which has captured all work product in full text to eliminate duplicative work
  • All of our clients' discovery and testimony have been retained to simplify responses to discovery and ensure consistent positions
