Computer Science Undergraduates Win College Honors and Awards

Seven Computer Science students won awards at the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences Honors and Awards Ceremony on April 26, 1998. Richard O. Jerrell was awarded a Joseph L. Fearer scholarship for 1998-99. These scholarships are given to sophomore, junior or senior students with high scholastic standing. John F. Leser was awarded a John and Rose Mendelson Kurtz Scholarship for 1998-99. These scholarships are given to undergraduate or graduate students who exhibit exceptional scholarship and leadership abilities. Keith A. McGuigan was given the 1998 Tech Alumni Achievement Award for Computer Science. This award is given by the Computer Science faculty to recognize an outstanding graduating senior. Eric P. Esposito was awarded a Douglas R. Woodward Scholarship for 1998-99. These scholarships are given to students for outstanding academic performance. Vassili Sukharev was given the 1998 Computer Science Alumni Achievement Award. This award is given by the Computer Science faculty to recognize an outstanding graduating senior. Dan Lipsa was given the 1998 Richard Lyczak Memorial Teaching Award. This award honors a Computer Science teaching assistant whose performance in the classroom exemplifies the commitment to teaching and service that made Dick Lyczak such an asset to the Department and the University. Matthew E. Nolte won both a Elmer F. Cutts and Marion Mitchell Cutts 1916 Scholarship and the Fred G. and the Gertrude A. Howell Scholarship for 1998-99. Both awards are given for outstanding scholarship. Congratulations to all the award winners!
